Special Scheme for Differently Abled Persons

Industrial Training Institutes play a vital role in economy of the country especially in terms of providing skilled manpower. Entry qualification is 8th pass / 10th pass. Training is imparted in NSQF aligned trades in level 4 and 5 as per NCVT norms. At present, 34,521 trainees have been admitted and are undergoing training in 90 Govt ITIs. There are 489 private ITIs are also providing training to 10768 trainees.Training is imparted in 58 Engineering and 26 Non-Engineering trades.

Special Schemes

❖ A reservation of 5% seats is earmarked for differently abled trainees on the total sanctioned strength in all ITIs.

❖ In three Government ITIs viz., Guindy, Ulundurpet and Nagercoil, skill training is imparted in Fitter trade exclusively to deaf and dumb youth.
