DET - ITI Admission

Basic fitting operations including marking, hacksawing, chiseling, filing, drilling, tapping, and grinding to ±0.25mm accuracy, producing components by drilling, reaming, tapping, and checking accuracy using vernier, screw gauge, and micrometer.
Setting conventional lathe machines, preparing cutting tools, performing turning operations including plain turning, facing, boring, grooving, step turning, threading, knurling, and producing taper and angular components with ±0.06mm accuracy.
Performing slotting operations for internal keyways and profiling, milling operations including plain, face, angular, form, gang, and straddle milling, and producing high-accuracy components by surface and cylindrical grinding to ±0.01mm.
Resharpening single and multipoint cutting tools, preparing gear components including spur gears, helical gears, bevel gears, racks, and worm wheels, setting CNC turning centres and CNC VMC, and preparing CNC part programmes.

Ability to study drawings, select metal pieces, mark for machining operations, fasten in chucks and fixtures, select machine feed and speed, control coolant flow, and check dimensions using measuring instruments and gauges.
Proficiency in operating lathe, shaper, milling, slotting, drilling, and grinding machines, making necessary adjustments for stipulated accuracy, and repeating operations on same or different machines as required.
Competence in process planning, selecting tools and cutting parameters, programming CNC vertical machining centres and CNC lathes, setting up machines for repetitive work, and performing simple maintenance tasks.
Skills in grinding and smoothening metal surfaces to specified accuracy, selecting appropriate grinding wheels, mounting work on machines using chucks and fixtures, dressing grinding wheels, and checking progress with gauges.

Can work as a Machinist in precision engineering companies, automobile component manufacturers, defence production units, and heavy engineering industries operating conventional and CNC machine tools.
Can find employment as a CNC Operator or CNC Programmer in manufacturing companies handling CNC turning centres and vertical machining centres for producing precision components as per drawings.
Can join tool rooms, die and mould shops, and aerospace component manufacturing companies as a Grinder or Machinist producing high-accuracy parts using surface grinding and cylindrical grinding machines.
Can work in railway workshops, shipyards, pump manufacturing companies, and gear manufacturing industries handling machining of complex components including gears, cams, worms, and precision mechanical parts.

Can pursue a Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering from AICTE recognized institutions to gain advanced manufacturing technology knowledge and qualify for higher technical and supervisory positions.
Can join the Crafts Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) to become a certified ITI instructor in the Machinist trade after gaining required industry experience under DGT guidelines.
Can pursue advanced training in CAD/CAM software, multi-axis CNC machining, high-speed machining, or advanced metrology to meet growing demands of precision manufacturing and aerospace industries.
Can obtain specialized certifications in CNC programming, quality management systems, or industrial maintenance to advance into CNC programmer, quality inspector, or machine maintenance engineer roles.
