Identifying and making hand stitches on fabric, stitching seams with seam finishes, darts, pleats, tucks, gathers, shirrs, frills, hems, casings, and edge finishing following proper safety precautions.
Stitching necklines, plackets, pockets, collars, sleeves, and cuffs, fixing fasteners on fabric, drafting patterns, and sewing complete ladies suits using appropriate hand and machine stitching techniques.
Taking accurate body measurements and recording dimensions, identifying and selecting different types of patterns, and drafting paper patterns with cloth cutting for ladies wear, kids wear, and gents wear.
Applying pattern making and cutting techniques for various garment types, using assistive devices and adaptive techniques, and developing orientation, mobility, and daily living skills alongside garment construction training.

Ability to measure customers accurately with inch tape, record measurements, cut material according to patterns and sizes, and assemble garment parts by hand sewing or machine stitching.
Proficiency in fitting stitched garments on customers, marking and executing alterations, finishing garments neatly, preparing new designs, and supervising sewing, stitching, and button-holing operations.
Competence in spreading cloth layers on cutting tables, placing patterns with minimum material wastage, marking outlines with chalk, and cutting accurately along marked lines using scissors and cutting tools.
Skills in repairing and renovating garments, working with different fabric types, maintaining quality in garment construction, and producing well-finished products for ladies, gents, and children.

Can work as a Tailor or Garment Stitcher in garment manufacturing units, boutiques, and textile factories producing ladies, gents, and children's clothing with hand and machine stitching skills.
Can find employment in readymade garment export companies, fashion design studios, and apparel production units as a Hand Cutter or Sewing Machine Operator handling cutting and stitching operations.
Can join uniform manufacturing companies, school and corporate uniform suppliers, and costume design houses handling pattern making, cutting, and stitching of specialized garments and uniforms.
Can become a self-employed tailor by setting up an independent tailoring shop offering custom stitching, alteration, and garment repair services for local residential and commercial clients.

Can pursue a Diploma or Degree in Fashion or Apparel Technology from UGC recognized institutions to gain advanced garment design and construction knowledge for higher career positions.
Can join the Crafts Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) to become a certified ITI instructor in the Cutting and Sewing trade after gaining required industry experience and assistive teaching skills under DGT.
Can pursue specialized courses in fashion design, pattern grading, computer-aided garment design, or embroidery and embellishment techniques to expand skills and meet growing fashion industry demands.
Can obtain certifications in garment quality inspection, textile knowledge, or entrepreneurship development to start own garment manufacturing business or advance into supervisory and production management roles.
