Performing sub-surface inspection by magnetic particle testing and ultrasonic flaw detection, interpreting radiographic films of weldments, reading and applying engineering drawings for welding applications.
Performing gas welding and SMAW arc welding of MS sheets, plates, and pipes in different positions, conducting straight, bevel, and circular cutting on MS plates using oxy-acetylene cutting process.
Performing visual inspection and destructive testing of welded joints including bend test, tensile test, hardness test, and impact test, and conducting surface defect inspection by dye penetrant inspection method.
Joining aluminium and stainless steel sheets by GTAW in different positions, joining MS sheets and plates by GMAW using different modes of metal transfer, performing arc gauging on MS plates.

Ability to fuse metal parts using gas welding with oxygen-acetylene flame, selecting correct welding rods and nozzles, regulating gas flow, and rectifying weld defects in various joint configurations.
Proficiency in arc welding using electrodes, regulating welding current according to material and thickness, and operating gas and electric welding machines for mass production spot and flash welding.
Competence in gas cutting and flame cutting of metals to required shapes and sizes, brazing metal parts using flux and fillings, and performing induction welding with proper joint inspection and cleaning.
Skills in conducting non-destructive testing including dye penetrant inspection, magnetic particle testing, ultrasonic flaw detection, and interpreting radiographic films to ensure weld quality and integrity.

Can work as a Gas Welder or Arc Welder in fabrication workshops, structural steel companies, shipyards, and construction firms handling metal joining and welding operations across industries.
Can find employment as a Welding Inspector in manufacturing companies, oil and gas pipelines, pressure vessel industries, and infrastructure projects ensuring weld quality through NDT inspection methods.
Can join automobile manufacturing companies, railway coach factories, aerospace industries, and defence establishments as a skilled welder handling GTAW, GMAW, and SMAW welding operations.
Can become a self-employed welding contractor offering gas welding, arc welding, gas cutting, and brazing services to construction companies, workshops, and industrial maintenance service providers.

Can pursue a Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgy, or Production Engineering from AICTE recognized institutions to gain advanced welding technology knowledge and improve career prospects.
Can join the Crafts Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) to become a certified ITI instructor in the Welder Welding and Inspection trade after gaining required industry experience under DGT.
Can obtain NDT Level II or Level III certifications in ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, magnetic particle, or dye penetrant inspection from ISNT or ASNT to qualify for senior inspection roles.
Can pursue international welding certifications from IIW, AWS, or CSWIP to enhance professional credibility and access higher-paying welding and inspection opportunities in global industries.
