IoT Technician (Smart Agriculture)

Skills taught in ITI

  • Performing electrical and electronic measurements, testing electronic components, soldering and desoldering SMD components, constructing analog and digital circuits, and troubleshooting using electronic simulation software.
  • Applying principles of sensors and transducers for IoT applications, identifying and testing microcontrollers, selecting signal conditioning circuits, and installing and configuring computer systems and networking for different applications.
  • Identifying and selecting sensors for smart agriculture, selecting wireless communication modules like Zigbee, Bluetooth, GSM, WiFi, and testing wired and wireless communication protocols including RS232, Ethernet, and Fibre Optic.
  • Installing greenhouse devices, monitoring soil moisture and temperature for irrigation control, selecting plant health monitoring systems, installing livestock monitoring devices, operating drones, and collecting agricultural data using UAVs.

  • Ability to identify IoT enabled systems in agriculture like Precision Farming, Livestock Monitoring, and Agricultural Drones to help farmers maximize yields using minimal water, fertilizer, and seeds.
  • Proficiency in positioning sensors to collect soil properties data including pH, nutrient levels, compaction, temperature, and rainfall using GPS and GIS systems for detailed field analysis.
  • Competence in applying Precision Agriculture tools like Soil Mapping, Yield Mapping, Remote Sensing, Variable Rate Technology, Integrated Pest Management, and Water Management for precision irrigation.
  • Skills in installing and troubleshooting drone components equipped with cameras and sensors for crop monitoring, soil analysis, plant counting, yield prediction, canopy cover mapping, and solar panel testing.
