Skills taught in ITI

  • Work with a wide range of tools like testing devices, soldering irons, wire cutters, standard tools (hammers, screwdrivers), and power tools (used to cut conduit pipes & drill holes)
  • Repair electrical wiring and components at homes and industries
  • Use cable lugs and crimping tools to install underground cables
  • Plan, and estimate costs of different types of wiring systems
  • Plan, draw, estimate material requirement, wire up, and test different commercial and computer networking wiring circuits as per Indian electricity rules
  • Select, assemble, test and wire-up control panel wiring
  • Install electronic components like rectifiers, inverters, and other electronic devices
  • Install and wire up AC induction motor (single and three phase) with starters

Skills needed by Industry

  • Install and maintain electrical control system and communication system wiring
  • Inspect electrical systems and equipment
  • Assemble high voltage drives using work orders that include outline drawings, schematic, ladder diagrams or hand drawings by engineer
  • Build complex and simple electrical systems like wiring inverters
  • Understand all types of electrical systems (open delta, closed delta, and star configurations)
